This tour explores the city centre and Klein Windhoek by mapping the city from the nineteenth century to the present. The tour traces early settlements, the rise of German colonial administration, and the development of settler spaces, alongside sites connected to colonial violence, genocide, and displacement. Particular attention is given to spaces that remain predominantly white, offering critical perspectives on race and whiteness in Windhoek’s urban landscape.

Our Freedom Fighter Tour takes travellers from Windhoek’s city centre to the former Old Location and Katutura, tracing Namibia’s resistance from the German colonial period and the genocide, through apartheid, to independence. Each stop focuses on the life of a different Namibian freedom fighter, linking personal stories to key moments of colonial violence and struggle. Developed from an Ovaherero perspective, the tour offers insight into how these histories shaped modern Namibia.

Our postcolonial walking tour through Windhoek’s city centre explores German colonialism in Namibia, from the beginnings of colonial rule to the first genocide of the twentieth century. The tour places this history within the city itself, showing how colonialism is embedded in streets, monuments, and public spaces. Through key sites of memory, the tour explores how history is written into the cityscape, whose memories are represented, and which remain untold. It links colonial violence and land dispossession to the present, highlighting how colonial legacies continue to shape Namibia today. Designed as an informative and interactive experience, the tour weaves historical storytelling with thoughtful reflection on repair and reconciliation.
